Dear Vehicles for change:

Thank you for allowing me to participant in your awesome program. Life was a struggle for me because of a lack of transportation. Without a car I was not able to get to work on a timely manner, because I was depending upon public transportation. Without a car it was very frustrating. I had no self esteem or motivation to get a better job or accomplish anything out of life. I tried to further my education but could not because of the inconvenience of public transportation in the city. I cannot even forget the efforts of traveling in bad weather, it was horrible.

I found a sponsoring agency and was provided a reliable, affordable vehicle, along with AAA Coverage. I was extremely excited and overwhelmed.

The Staff at Vehicles for change was very courteous. I received my vehicle April 2007 and my life truly changed every since. Everything was exactly like they indicated. I received a loan without credit history, and was able to established credit. I became more independent and responsible. With my vehicle I was able to further my career and education. I was able to make a lot of accomplishments

Today, I am Writing to say that my vehicle is still in good condition, and had little or minor work done. It was truly a great opportunity, and I appreciate you allowing me to participate in your program!

To Everyone at Vehicles for Change,

I wanted to express my most sincere thanks to you for helping to make it possible for me to become more independent, ie the car. My life is so much less complicated when I can make an appointment or go to work and know that I can be on time like a responsible adult.

And when I had concerns that something was amiss with the car’s proper functioning you took care of it right away. I am a very satisfied and thankful beneficiary of Vehicles for Change.

Yours truly,

Mary Molloy, Maryland

I want to thank everyone, from the bottom of my heart, for making it possible for me to acquire the Buick Le Sabre.  From the person who donated a car in Maryland, to the people at Vehicles for Change who made it possible, you each have my undying gratitude.

Circumstances recently required that I change jobs.  An abusive situation at home forced my eight-year old son and me to suddenly have to move into a friend’s basement.  I had been working part-time for the past five years at the Washington Hospital Center, but I had to seek full-time employment immediately.  Unfortunately, this took four months and put me in a serious financial bind.  Happily, I have now found a full-time position at the same hospital where I had already been employed.  However, I have to be at work at 5:30 am, and public transportation simply does not run early enough from where I am living to be able to get there on time each morning.  After one week in the new position, I realized that it would be impossible for me to keep the job without having a car.  Having this car will enable me to keep a job that I love for what I hope will be many years to come.

Thanks to Vehicles for Change, which made it possible for me to be able to get a car to get back and forth to work and get my son to his activities, and thanks to the incredibly generous man who donated the car, I am able now to see a light at the end of the tunnel.  This has been a very hard year for my son and me, but things are looking much better for us now.  I have hope that things will continue on this trend.

Thank you all so much for your generosity and kindness.

Sincerely,

Janice Birkhead, Maryland

“I can tell you my car got us to many a soccer contest.”
This is probably the most wonderful quote we have ever received from a VFC recipient. The car donations from Virginia residents make a difference.
Ms. Smith (name has been changed per her request) received a Kia Sephia from Vehicles for Change on Feb 4, 2004 through Northern Virginia Family Services. At the time Ms. Smith received the car she had 2 small children and for the most part no job. Due to a lack of transportation she was only able to accept temporary positions making minimum hourly wages. She was living with her sister who she counted to provide cab service to her and her children all the while trying to maintain her own job.

Then she received a Vehicles for Change car and her life, and that of her children changed forever. She is currently working with the State of Virginia in an accounting office earning $42,000 per year. Her children now 7 and 8 years old have participated in the local soccer program where Ms. Smith stated that her Kia got them to many a soccer contest. In addition to the great job and access to the County sports and recreation activities Ms. Smith found that making trips to the grocery store, doctor’s office for those mandatory shots for her children and every other daily motherly road trip were no longer a major undertaking. “My car made all the difference; it took all the pressure off of me and my sister.”

Ms. Smith and her growing family of athletes have outgrown her Kia and graciously returned it to Vehicles for Change. “It is time for another deserving family to have access to its magic.” In the meantime Ms. Smith has become the classic “soccer mom” as she recently purchased a brand new van. “I could not have done any of this without Vehicles for Change.”

This letter is just a big thank you form myself and my children, because without a car from Vehicles for Change I would not be able to keep my place of employment and do extra stuff with my kids on the weekends.

When they saw me pull up in the driveway they had smiles from ear to ear and said is that ours. It also made me feel really good. Now I can do some overtime at work $$$$$....

Thanks sooooo much.

Dearest Courtney and Marty,

I just can't say THANK YOU enough for all that the both of you have done.  The generosity you both have shown is so totally unique.  You both have truly changed the lives of Robin, Maggie and Taylor.  My family and I appreciate all that you have done and continue to do on a daily basis.  Your hearts are as big as the world we live in and I will NEVER forget the way you both made all of us feel and the way you treated us with open arms and open hearts.

On behalf of my family and the Robinson's, we wish you both and your families, a blessed holiday season and Happy New Year!  We hope your lives are as blessed as you have made ours!

Again, THANK YOU both, VERY, VERY MUCH!

Sincerely,

Rayline, Virginia

I'm writing this letter to let you know what a wonderful staff you have, I have had the pleasure of working closely with 2 of your employees over the last couple of months Jane Garey and  Steve Sullivan. Jane has always returned all of my phone calls tracked Steve down when I really needed to talk him and so much more. And Steve he has been patient, honest, up front, kind, caring, and always professional, I can go on and on about Steve. I just really appreciate all of his time and effort.

I would really, really like to thank you all for a job well done. I'm a single mother of  2 small children and your program has made it possible for me to provide for my family and for this I will always be grateful and pray that some day I am in a position where I can do the same for another family.

 Again thank you all!

Sincerely,
